bathe like an egyptian

I have been trying out the whole milk bath thing for for a few months now. Milk baths are good for moisturizing and exfoliating the skin, the latter due to the lactic acid in milk. Whole milk is said to be better as the higher fat content is more nourishing. Natural fats are also touted to be good for conditioning the hair as well. Originally I intended to mix up a jar of schmancy powdered goat’s milk bath with some dried floral, oils, and all sorts of pretty stuffs but I never managed it.

easy milk bath recipe:

2 c powdered milk of choice

1/2 c epsom salt

1/2 c baking soda

4-6 drops essential oils (more for a stronger scent)

dried herbs or floral (opt)

mix together, add 1/4 cup or more to running warm water

I do manage to throw a handful of dried petals and herbs in with a cabinet glass of milk every time I bathe (sometimes only the milk). I generally rely on my patchouli soap to scent my skin. Even so, this has made a big difference–my skin is way smoother and less spotty… dare I say a little more supple? I love it.
