the perennial gardener’s design primer

With thoughts of fine tuning my garden in the next year, I wandered into my local library to pick up a few (20) books. This was the first one I read and I liked it so much that I immediately went to Amazon.com and picked up a used copy.

This book is packed with useful planting information, design plans, and plenty of helpful suggestions on where to begin as well as how to rework an already established site. I also liked that there was a bit about the use of annuals and even some things I never considered considering–like how windy a site is. My favorite tidbit of advice had to be “Plants don’t read books, so they don’t know where the books say they are supposed to grow, how tall they are supposed to get, and so on.”
